Philippa Brock has an interdisciplinary practice developed over thirty years as an international designer, researcher, academic, editor, curator, strategist and textile artist within the field of woven textiles and materials. Her primary research interests lie in developing disruptive approaches to 2D and 3D woven methods on both hand and within digital industrial manufacturing, woven jacquard loom methods.
Philippa has recently co-curated (with Elizabeth Ashdown), The Experimental Weave Lab, a 9 month residency, outreach and public-facing, experimental making programme which culminated in an exhibition, and she continues to work as both a designer and textile artist selling and exhibiting work globally. Until recently she managed the Woven Textile Pathway part time for 22 years at Central Saint Martins, UAL, and was a lead researcher for the Textile Futures Research Community.
Additionally, Philippa edits The Weave Shed, a resource site, and blog for professional weavers and is Co-founder of Studio Houndstooth: a collaborative studio creating socially innovative projects which use methods of ludic and slow textile making to bring together industry and the local community.
