Introduction

I have been a designer-craftsman working in the field of lettering for the past twenty five years.  Most of this time I have specialised in letter carving in stone and slate but also doing some graphic design such as logos and book jackets.  My work has been reproduced in many publications over the last twenty years and has been exhibited and sold at shows at Sotheby’s, Bonhams and The Gallery in Cork Street.

Commissions include work for: The Queen’s Gallery, London; Westminster Abbey; The British Museum; Boots plc; The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama; Memorials by Artists and Norwich Castle Museum.

In 1988 a book ‘Tom Perkins, Letter carver’ with an introduction by Bro. Gerald Fleuss was published by the Edward Johnston Foundation, Ditchling, Sussex.  I am a Fellow of The Society of Designer-Craftsmen and The Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society.
