Biography
Born in 1936, she began her career in engraving and progressed through design, photography and painting to her true metier of sculpture. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptures. Her works have gained her numerous awards and she also holds the Bronze and Silver medals of the Societe des Artistes Francais.
Judith’s forte is large-scale architectural sculpture and her architectural works includes many high relief narratives in brick and bronze, as instanced in the twenty foot wide security doors depicting The Marriage of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza at Portsmouth Crown Courts. Her most important pressed brick-work is The Legend of the Iron Gates, an eighty foot long relief commissioned by J Sainsbury in Wimslow, for which she was awarded the Otto Beit Medal of the Royal Society of British Sculptors.
Her great love of nature is reflected in all her free standing work and her abstract works, (such as Gulls at Rank Xerox HQ). She has been involved in 5 award winning RHS schemes for both Chelsea and Tatton Park.
