Biography

CLAIRE MC DERMOTT ARBS                                      Graduate of Historical Decorative Arts&Crafts Member of The Royal Society of British Sculptures

Mc Dermott is classically trained in wood carving, gilding and applied
ornamentation and has been commissioned widely with some of her work on view
at the British Museum and V & A.

After 10 years of working in applied decoration McDermott has produced a
portfolio of mixed media works using photography, painting and sculpture.
The artist takes her inspiration from nature and by using microscopic
equipment takes the viewer on a journey into a miniature world of
exploration.

McDermott uses traditions techniques and precious materials to produce
illuminated landscapes drenched in gold. McDermotts abstract scapes at a
glance appear opulent but on further inspection are frozen and fossilized
worlds.
