JENNY LAGNADO – Artist and Printmaker
My subjects are based on the environment around me and range from landscape formations to the urban landscape of London and my own kitchen. My current prints are abstract but they are rooted in observation(drawing), feeling and memory. The abstract qualities inherent in printmaking – because it is so to speak at one remove -intrigue me. At present I am continuing to work on the theme of landscape. Exploration does not go in a straight line and the process can generate ideas and create new discoveries within the medium.
I was closely involved in the revival of the Royal Academy Schools ex-student society (‘The Reynolds Club’) and its transformation into the current RA Schools Alumni (RASA). I produced and edited the bi-annual RASA Newsletter betwen 1998 and 2005.
In my teaching career I taught drawing, painting and printmaking in Adult Education, as a College Lecturer,in Adult Education and for the National Trust and Kew Studios.
