Lecture Hall projection facilities

There is a manually operated 15 ft screen with front projection, which includes two Kodak carousel projectors as well as a Mitsubishi digital projector, and a combi VCR/DVD.
After switching on (which should have been set up in advance) the hired equipment is operated from the lectern with touch-screen controls.

Hirers may bring their own laptops and plug into the AV system at the lectern.
PCs : the standard connection is available.  Hirers must supply their own power cable: power is integral with the lectern.  Hirers should check how their PC connects with a remote screen before the event.  (FN/F1-7/8 are the usual key combinations.)
APPLE-MACs : the standard connection is for PC ports, and the hirer would need to bring the laptop’s own adapter, as well as power cable.
Hirers may wish to simply bring a disk or memory stick, in which case the Guild can make it’s own laptop available.  The hirer must format the presentation in PowerPoint, which is the presentation software loaded on the Guild’s computer.

KODAK CAROUSEL PROJECTION : in order to give the presentation a chance to run smoothly the hirer is advised to take note of the following hints :
Load slides in KODAK carousels ONLY (upside-down and-back-to-front).  Kodak carousels are available from the Guild Steward.  It is essential to check that the base is locked into the ‘0’ position (with the slit lining up with the ‘0’ numeral on the rim
Slides are mounted in a number of different ways and, during projection, are variously affected by the heat.  To avoid jamming and associated problems, load similarly mounted slides together in one carousel
IF PROBLEMS OCCUR CONTACT THE GUILD STEWARD IMMEDIATELY
BULBS are available from the Guild Steward
NB : Kodak stopped making the equipment several years ago, and repairs are increasingly costly and time-consuming

A pointer, designed by C. R. Ashbee is available on request.

The Guild Steward can be contacted by ringing the BASEMENT bell at the front door.
