Membership is open to architects and anyone working in the decorative and visual arts. Applicants must be proposed and seconded by existing members and election occurs four times a year at committee meetings. We strongly advise that you attend at least one Guild meeting as a guest of a current member before applying.
There are three types of membership open to application:
Ordinary membership – practitioners in the applied arts
£140 p.a. – London-based members
£90 p.a. – members outside London
Membership is free after the age of 80.
Associate membership (limited to 50 members) – those who are not active practitioners but who have actively encouraged the crafts.
Free for 1 year, then ordinary membership fees apply.
Affiliate membership – students or those who are early in their career, whose work is not considered ready for application as a full member. Affiliate membership is for 5 years, after which they may be invited to apply for full membership.
Candidates for full and affiliate membership should provide a portfolio which includes the following:
• up to 6 finished pieces of original work
suitable for exhibition
• a sketchbook, storyboard or research notes
for a finished work
• publications or press cuttings
• a CV and artist’s statement.
