Introduction
Peter Collyer paints watercolours of shimmering intensity. His subject is the landscape of the British Isles, describing his work as a ‘pursuit of the history of the landscape, its shaping by man and nature, the working and weathering of the land and its endless interaction with the sea’.
Born in Northampton and gained an Honours Degree in Fine Art at Newport, South Wales, he has been a professional painter since 1983 and has had numerous one-man shows in London, firstly at Francis Kyle, and since 1993 at Chris Beetles. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Since the late 1990s Peter has also been writing about his painting travels. His first book Rain Later, Good is the award winning account of his journey round the Shipping Forecast. His fourth and latest, Offshore, is an artists view of Britain’s islands.
