Introduction

Born in 1961 I am best known for my heraldic paintings and my ‘mediaeval’ work.
Using materials and some practices of my mediaeval craft ancestors and working to commission I produce coats of arms, calligraphic and illuminated manuscripts and some illustration work.
I was an heraldic advisor that formed part of the team restoring Windsor Castle. I have also been assisting the Queen’s Scribe by illuminating Peerage Patents for the House of Lords and have written and illustrated a small book, ‘Coats of Arms’ published by Pitkin Guides. My work has rarely been exhibited, the exception being at the invitation of the Canadian Heraldic Authority who asked me to participate in the ‘Twelve Masters of Heraldic Art’ exhibition at the Museum of Civilisation in Ottawa in 1996.
I also like to produce small hand written illuminated books for collectors such as the recent ‘The Lady of Shalott’ for Sir Paul Getty.
My work thus far has been the result of a rambling mind inspired by a sometimes surreal, a sometimes romantic and more often an extremely exciting, chaotic pinball like journey that started on a sprawling council estate in East London and has ended up in Somerset!
